Famous 03:45
Famous Key of G, HARP, no capo © Lightning Lucas, 2015 (G2, C2, Em2, D) entire time except where noted Do you wanna be like Abe Lincoln, Do you wanna be like Bob Dylan, Do you wanna be like Neil Armstrong, or how bout Mother Theresa, or maybe Dorothy Day, or maybe Joan of Arc? So you wanna be influential, so you wanna be popular, so you wanna be remembered when you're gone, well I (C2) can't say it's wrong, I often feel that way. The sum of our parts doesn't sum up who we want to be and/or who we may be if we maybe caught that lucky break like in our dreams. HARP Would you be on the next World Cup team even if you had to sit the bench, are you prepared to go that far? And you wouldn't be Paul McCartney and you wouldn't be John Lennon, but you would be Harrison or Ringo Starr. You just wanna be part of something that's bigger than your self, well don't be too alarmed, while I (C2) can't see any harm, I just don't feel that way. Bridge/chorus thingy Do/so you wanna be like your daddy, do/so you wanna be like your mum, do/so you wanna be like your grandpa (or grandma), so you wanna be like your neighbors, so you wanna be like your friends, so you wanna be liked by all but stay small, though I (C2) can't find any fault, don't feel that way most days. HARP Verse 1, end

Why should one try, it’s not like the value is intrinsic. What’s the whole point, shouldn’t we be there by now? What might have been, if only D,C,D,C,G x2 These are perennial questions, they come up again and again throughout our lives These are perennial questions, they come up time after time year after year G,D,G,D Who am I, what is this, where are we, how can this be? x2 G,D,C,C Why why why I fear, when will it all be made clear? E,A, sometimes B whole time Caterpillar-Butterfly, who can say what waits inside, to be awakened, to be brought forth, in the spring things fly north Seed to seedling, seedling, tree, endless possibility not to be ignored, just do your best, in the spring things build their nests. Bulb to flower and flower to soil, dust to dust, and corn to oil, and we are waiting for metamorphosis, cocoons contain the best blueprints for this. HARP on verse melody-ish Breath to breeze and breeze to wind, wind to wherever its whim will take it, and make it blow, bring the showers so flowers grow. Water cycle, water tower, how to harness hydropower, don’t be mistaken, like us all, when water slips, water falls. Babies born, and children raised, incremental instant change, that we don’t notice until it all adds up, the next generation, the same sippy-cup. Cycles, circles, paths and plans, careful care now, don’t you dare to glance away now, just wait and see now, any day now you may find your peace HARP creatively Transformations once transformed best establish brand-new norms, so they can weather the coming storms, so they can treasure their days as these new life forms. Caterpillar-Butterfly who can say what waits inside?

When We Seek Wisdom © Lightning Lucas, July 2015 based on the book of Proverbs G Does not wisdom call out, does not understanding raise her voice, on the heights along the way where the paths meet she takes her stand. Beside the gates leading into the city, at the entrances she cries aloud: To you, oh people, I cry out, I raise my voice to all! Listen, for I have worthy things to say: Chorus: G When we seek Wisdom, we must C remember what she says or we have G sought her for D naught, G When we seek Wisdom, we must C remember what, she G bequeths to us, for she D cannot be G bought. G Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisors they succeed. A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit. A generous person will prosper, If you refresh others, you yourself will be refreshed. Whoever trusts in riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive on what is left. Rebuke someone wise and they will love you, Instruct someone wise and they'll be wiser still, Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers all ills... chorus. G Better a love feast of vegetables than a fattened calf with gall, Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit precedes a fall. Listen to advice and accept instruction and in the end you will be wise, the first to present their case seems right till another makes you think otherwise. Grey hair is a crown of splendor, it is attained by a righteous life, Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting with strife. A man who receives a great blessing, is the man who finds a good wife. Chorus F,G,F,G etc Go to the ant you sluggard: consider it's ways and be wise, it has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gather its food at harvest. How long will you lie there you sluggard, when will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man. Chorus G My child, preserve sound judgement and discernment. Do not let them out of your sight. They will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck, Then you will go on your way in safety and your foot will not stumble, When you lie down you will not be afraid, When you lie down your sleep will be sweet. Chorus x? Fade out, or slow and loud?
